We were a family of four: Amma, Appa, my daughter and I, her mom.
Amma was in her 70s, Appa in his 80s, my daughter moving annually from 8 to her teens and yours truly in her 50s. So that made for a pretty motley group, age-wise.
We are now reduced to two, having lost my parents in 2020 and 2023. But they are always with us, in spirit and out, framed on the table of every hotel we stay in during our travels.
Why road trips? Its a great way to see the country! The purposes were educational, new experiences, bonding, relaxation and fun! It also developed a great love for the country and its people. We realised how privileged we were to travel in a land that had so much to offer.
Any natural feature, be it mountains, oceans, rivers and lakes, vast plains, deserts, salt marshes, forests, lagoons, caves, rock formations and others, was there for us to see. Magnificent temples by great ruling dynasties, art and art work collections, museums and palaces, impregnable forts, towers, dams.. the list was endless. And through it all, a soothing landscape of fields with crops waving gently in the breeze and smiling, compassionate and helpful fellowmen.
We hope you enjoy our posts 🙂
We have added a new link ‘Venturing Abroad’ to share our travel experiences in countries outside India. We hope you enjoy reading them too! 🙂 🙂
